55. Ar-Rahman

الرحمن

This Surah is entitled Ar Rahman, the word with which it begins. This title, however, deeply relates to the subject matter of the Surah too, for in it, from the beginning to the end, the manifestations and fruits of Allah's attribute of mercy and grace have been mentioned.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

55:1

ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ

Saheeh International

The Most Merciful

Wahiduddin Khan

The Merciful

Shabbir Ahmed

Ar-Rahman, the Beneficent, the Instant Source of all Mercy and Kindness

55:2

عَلَّمَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ

Saheeh International

Taught the Qur’ān,

Wahiduddin Khan

who taught the Quran

Shabbir Ahmed

He it is Who has made known and taught the Qur'an

55:3

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ

Saheeh International

Created man,

Wahiduddin Khan

He created man

Shabbir Ahmed

He has created the human being. (And taken care of his mental and physical needs)

55:4

عَلَّمَهُ ٱلۡبَيَانَ

Saheeh International

[And] taught him eloquence.

Wahiduddin Khan

and He taught him speech

Shabbir Ahmed

He has distinguished him with the ability to clearly express his feelings and thoughts

55:5

ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ بِحُسۡبَانࣲ‏

Saheeh International

The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation,

Wahiduddin Khan

The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning

Shabbir Ahmed

The sun and the moon run by a mathematical design. (Such are the changeless Laws given in this Book)

55:6

وَٱلنَّجۡمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسۡجُدَانِ

Saheeh International

And the stars and trees prostrate.

the stars and the trees bend in prostration

Shabbir Ahmed

The stars and the trees all adore Him (and follow His Laws)

55:7

وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلۡمِيزَانَ

Saheeh International

And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance

Wahiduddin Khan

He raised the heavens and set up the measure

Shabbir Ahmed

And the sky has He raised high and has kept perfect balance in the Universe

55:8

أَلَّا تَطۡغَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡمِيزَانِ

Saheeh International

That you not transgress within the balance.

Wahiduddin Khan

so that you should not transgress the measure

Shabbir Ahmed

So that you, too, never violate balance in your lives

55:9

وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلۡوَزۡنَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَلَا تُخۡسِرُواْ ٱلۡمِيزَانَ

Saheeh International

And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance.

Wahiduddin Khan

Always measure with justice and do not give short measure

Shabbir Ahmed

Therefore, establish Balance in the society in absolute justice. And never belittle the Scale of Justice in the community and in all your transactions with your own 'Self' and with others

55:10

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلۡأَنَامِ

Saheeh International

And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures.

Wahiduddin Khan

He has laid out the earth for His creatures

Shabbir Ahmed

And (know that) the earth He has spread out for all His creatures. ('Anam' = All living beings)

55:11

فِيهَا فَٰكِهَةࣱ وَٱلنَّخۡلُ ذَاتُ ٱلۡأَكۡمَامِ

Saheeh International

Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates]

Wahiduddin Khan

On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates]

Wherein are fruit and palms with clusters protected in sheaths

55:12

وَٱلۡحَبُّ ذُو ٱلۡعَصۡفِ وَٱلرَّيۡحَانُ

Saheeh International

And grain having husks and scented plants.

Wahiduddin Khan

and grains with their husk and fragrant plants

Shabbir Ahmed

And grain, corn, leaves, stalks, colorful herbs, vegetables, spices, sweet-smelling plants and fragrant flowers. (The three Arabic terms used in this verse include all the meanings rendered)

55:13

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:14

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَٰلࣲ كَٱلۡفَخَّارِ

Saheeh International

He created man from clay like [that of] pottery.

Wahiduddin Khan

He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s

Shabbir Ahmed

He created the human out of inorganic matter that sounded like an empty pot. (And it was empty of a trace of the finished form)

55:15

وَخَلَقَ ٱلۡجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجࣲ مِّن نَّارࣲ‏

Saheeh International

And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.

Wahiduddin Khan

and He created the jinns from a flame of fire

Shabbir Ahmed

And the Jinns (nomads) He has created from a confused flame of fire (with a confused fiery disposition)

55:16

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:17

رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقَيۡنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَغۡرِبَيۡنِ

Saheeh International

[He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets.

Wahiduddin Khan

He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests

Shabbir Ahmed

Lord of the two Easts and the two Wests. (The East and the West of the summer, and the East and the West of the winter)

55:18

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:19

مَرَجَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَيۡنِ يَلۡتَقِيَانِ

Saheeh International

He released the two seas, meeting [one another];

Wahiduddin Khan

He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together

Shabbir Ahmed

He has let free the two seas. They meet

55:20

بَيۡنَهُمَا بَرۡزَخࣱ لَّا يَبۡغِيَانِ

Saheeh International

Between them is a barrier so neither of them transgresses.

Wahiduddin Khan

Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun

Shabbir Ahmed

Yet, there is a Barrier between them that they cannot exceed. (The great bodies of salt water and fresh water)

55:21

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:22

يَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهُمَا ٱللُّؤۡلُؤُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ

Saheeh International

From both of them emerge pearl and coral.

Wahiduddin Khan

Pearls and corals come forth from both of them

Shabbir Ahmed

From both of them come forth pearl and coral

55:23

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:24

وَلَهُ ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِي ٱلۡبَحۡرِ كَٱلۡأَعۡلَٰمِ

Saheeh International

And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains.

Wahiduddin Khan

His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains

Shabbir Ahmed

And His are the bannered ships sailing through the sea lofty like mountains. (All creativity and invention of human beings issues forth from His gifts of mind and body. So all man-made things belong to Him)

55:25

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:26

كُلُّ مَنۡ عَلَيۡهَا فَانࣲ‏

Saheeh International

Everyone upon it [i.e., the earth] will perish,

Wahiduddin Khan

All that is on the earth is doomed to perish

Shabbir Ahmed

All things thereon (in the Universe) are ever changing. ('Fani' = Ever-changing = Mortal)

55:27

وَيَبۡقَىٰ وَجۡهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ

Saheeh International

And there will remain the Face of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.

Wahiduddin Khan

while your Lord's own Self will remain full of majesty and glory

Shabbir Ahmed

But forever is Changeless the 'Self' of your Lord, the Lord of Majesty and Honor. ('Baqi' = Remaining = Eternal = Survivor = Remainder = Changeless. 'Wajh' = Face = Countenance = Self = Whole being = Personality)

55:28

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:29

يَسۡـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ كُلَّ يَوۡمٍ هُوَ فِي شَأۡنࣲ‏

Saheeh International

Whoever is within the heavens and earth asks Him; every day He is in [i.e., bringing about] a matter.

Wahiduddin Khan

Everyone in the heavens and on the earth entreats Him. Every day He manifests Himself in a new state

Shabbir Ahmed

All creatures in the heavens and the earth seek their needs from Him. And every day is He in a Marvelous Splendor

55:30

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:31

سَنَفۡرُغُ لَكُمۡ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ

Saheeh International

We will attend to you, O prominent beings.

Wahiduddin Khan

Soon We shall attend to you -- two big groups [of jinn and mankind]

Shabbir Ahmed

Soon shall We lighten your burdens, O Burdened men and women

55:32

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:33

يَٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ أَن تَنفُذُواْ مِنۡ أَقۡطَارِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنفُذُواْۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلۡطَٰنࣲ‏

Saheeh International

O company of jinn and mankind, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by authority [from Allāh].

Wahiduddin Khan

O company of jinn and men! If you have the power to go beyond the realms of the heavens and the earth, pass beyond them: you cannot pass out but with [Our] authority

Shabbir Ahmed

O Communities of the rural and the urban! If you can break through the 'fences' of the heavens and the earth, then break through. Never can you break through without an Authority. Can you bring an evidence

55:34

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:35

يُرۡسَلُ عَلَيۡكُمَا شُوَاظࣱ مِّن نَّارࣲ وَنُحَاسࣱ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ

Saheeh International

There will be sent upon you a flame of fire and smoke, and you will not defend yourselves.

Wahiduddin Khan

Flames of fire and molten brass shall be sent against both of you, and you will not be able to defend yourselves

Shabbir Ahmed

A blaze will be unleashed upon you - and thick smoke - and you will not be able to defend yourselves. (If you think that you can escape Divine Laws, you will never find your way in the thick smoke of conjecture)

55:36

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:37

فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ وَرۡدَةࣰ كَٱلدِّهَانِ

Saheeh International

And when the heaven is split open and becomes rose-colored like oil -

Wahiduddin Khan

When the sky is rent asunder, and becomes red like red leather

Shabbir Ahmed

And when the high elite will disperse and adapt to a stunning change

55:38

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

Wahiduddin Khan

which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:39

فَيَوۡمَئِذࣲ لَّا يُسۡـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسࣱ وَلَا جَآنࣱّ‏

Saheeh International

Then on that Day none will be asked about his sin among men or jinn.

Wahiduddin Khan

For, on that Day, neither man nor jinn will be questioned about his sins

Shabbir Ahmed

In that Era neither the urban nor the rural will be asked why they trailed behind

55:40

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:41

يُعۡرَفُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ بِسِيمَٰهُمۡ فَيُؤۡخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِي وَٱلۡأَقۡدَامِ

Saheeh International

The criminals will be known by their marks, and they will be seized by the forelocks and the feet.

Wahiduddin Khan

The guilty shall be recognized by their marks so they shall be seized by their forelocks and their feet

Shabbir Ahmed

The violators of human rights will be clearly identified, firmly seized and held accountable. ('Mujrim' = Guilty = One who steals the fruit of others' labor = Violator of human rights)

55:42

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:43

هَٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِي يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ

Saheeh International

This is Hell, which the criminals deny.

Wahiduddin Khan

This is the Hell which the guilty called a lie

Shabbir Ahmed

This is Hell which the guilty deny

55:44

يَطُوفُونَ بَيۡنَهَا وَبَيۡنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانࣲ‏

Saheeh International

They will circulate between it and scalding water, heated [to the utmost degree].

Wahiduddin Khan

They will go round between its flames and boiling water

Shabbir Ahmed

They wander between it and their smoldering anguish

55:45

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:46

وَلِمَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ

Saheeh International

But for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens -

Wahiduddin Khan

There are two gardens for one who fears standing before his Lord

Shabbir Ahmed

And for him who stands in fear of his Lord's Presence, are two Paradises - one here one there

55:47

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:48

ذَوَاتَآ أَفۡنَانࣲ‏

Saheeh International

Having [spreading] branches.

Wahiduddin Khan

[There will be two gardens with] spreading branches

Shabbir Ahmed

Abounding in two facets, art and science. ('Afnan' = Creative works, art and science)

55:49

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:50

فِيهِمَا عَيۡنَانِ تَجۡرِيَانِ

Saheeh International

In both of them are two springs, flowing.

Wahiduddin Khan

In both of them, there are two springs flowing

Shabbir Ahmed

Wherein flow two springs, creativity and aesthetics

55:51

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:52

فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَٰكِهَةࣲ زَوۡجَانِ

Saheeh International

In both of them are of every fruit, two kinds.

Wahiduddin Khan

In both of them, there will be two kinds of every fruit

Shabbir Ahmed

Wherein is two kinds of fruit, of their own labor and of the added Reward

55:53

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:54

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشِۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنۡ إِسۡتَبۡرَقࣲۚ وَجَنَى ٱلۡجَنَّتَيۡنِ دَانࣲ‏

Saheeh International

[They are] reclining on beds whose linings are of silk brocade, and the fruit of the two gardens is hanging low.

Wahiduddin Khan

They will recline upon carpets lined with rich brocade; and the fruits of both these gardens will be within easy reach

Shabbir Ahmed

Reclining on luxurious carpets lined with rich brocade, the fruit of both Gardens at hand

55:55

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:56

فِيهِنَّ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنࣱّ‏

Saheeh International

In them are women limiting [their] glances, untouched before them by man or jinnī -

Wahiduddin Khan

Therein are maidens of modest gaze, whom neither a man nor a jinn had ever touched before them

Shabbir Ahmed

Therein women have a modest gaze, never touched by human vices or evil prompting

55:57

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:58

كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلۡيَاقُوتُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ

Saheeh International

As if they were rubies and coral.

Wahiduddin Khan

[There will be] maidens as fair as corals and rubies

Shabbir Ahmed

Like unto rubies and pearls

55:59

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:60

هَلۡ جَزَآءُ ٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنُ

Saheeh International

Is the reward for good [anything] but good?

Wahiduddin Khan

The reward of goodness shall be nothing but goodness

Shabbir Ahmed

Is the reward of goodness anything but goodness? (10:26), (

55:61

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:62

وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ

Saheeh International

And below them both [in excellence] are two [other] gardens -

Wahiduddin Khan

Besides those two there shall be two other gardens

Shabbir Ahmed

And other than these two, shall be two more Gardens. (The human 'Self' and the new Universe will keep evolving)

55:63

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:64

مُدۡهَآمَّتَانِ

Saheeh International

Dark green [in color].

Wahiduddin Khan

Both [gardens] of the darkest green

Shabbir Ahmed

Both ever-fresh, lush green, pleasing

55:65

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:66

فِيهِمَا عَيۡنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ

Saheeh International

In both of them are two springs, spouting.

Wahiduddin Khan

In both of them live springs gush forth

Shabbir Ahmed

Therein are two springs gushing forth. (Personal delight and shared joy)

55:67

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:68

فِيهِمَا فَٰكِهَةࣱ وَنَخۡلࣱ وَرُمَّانࣱ‏

Saheeh International

In both of them are fruit and palm trees and pomegranates.

In both of them there will be fruit trees and date-palms and pomegranates

Therein is fruit, and palms and pomegranate. (Fruit within the fruit of Reward)

55:69

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:70

فِيهِنَّ خَيۡرَٰتٌ حِسَانࣱ‏

Saheeh International

In them are good and beautiful women -

Wahiduddin Khan

Therein will be maidens chaste and beautiful

Therein are all things most excellent, symmetrical, beautiful. ('Khair' = Good thing = Excellent. 'Hisan' = Nicely balanced = Beautifully symmetrical = Symmetrically beautiful)

55:71

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

Wahiduddin Khan

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:72

حُورࣱ مَّقۡصُورَٰتࣱ فِي ٱلۡخِيَامِ

Saheeh International

Fair ones reserved in pavilions -

Wahiduddin Khan

[There the blessed will live with their] pure companions sheltered in pavilions

Modest, intelligent companions in blessed shades

55:73

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:74

لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنࣱّ‏

Saheeh International

Untouched before them by man or jinnī -

Wahiduddin Khan

Whom neither a man or jinn had ever touched before them

Companions never touched by human vices or evil prompting. (5)

55:75

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? -

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:76

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفۡرَفٍ خُضۡرࣲ وَعَبۡقَرِيٍّ حِسَانࣲ‏

Saheeh International

Reclining on green cushions and beautiful fine carpets.

Wahiduddin Khan

[They will live in such a paradise] reclining upon green cushions and the finest carpets

Relaxing on ever-fresh meadows and splendid carpets

55:77

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Saheeh International

So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?

Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny

Shabbir Ahmed

Then, O Men and women! Which Authority of your Lord will you deny

55:78

تَبَٰرَكَ ٱسۡمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ

Saheeh International

Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor.

Blessed be your Lord's name, full of glory and majesty
