Saheeh International

It is the piercing star

Wahiduddin Khan

It is the shining star

Shabbir Ahmed

86:4

Saheeh International

So let man observe from what he was created.

Wahiduddin Khan

Let man reflect on what he was created from

Shabbir Ahmed

Let the human being, then, consider out of what he has been created. (And realize the common origin of all mankind. Has there not passed over man an era when he was not even worth mentioning)

86:6

Saheeh International

He was created from a fluid, ejected,

Wahiduddin Khan

He was created from spurting fluid

Shabbir Ahmed

He has been created from a turbulent water. (2)

86:7

Saheeh International

Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.

Wahiduddin Khan

issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone

Shabbir Ahmed

That issued from between tough rocks and mingled dust

86:8

Saheeh International

Indeed, He [i.e., Allāh], to return him [to life], is Able.

Wahiduddin Khan

He certainly has the power to bring him back to life

Shabbir Ahmed

Now, verily, He (Who has thus created man), is well Able to bring him back

Shabbir Ahmed

On the Day when all secrets will be disclosed

Then he [i.e., man] will have no power or any helper.

Wahiduddin Khan

[man] will have no power, and no helper

Shabbir Ahmed

Then he will have no power, nor a helper

86:11

Saheeh International

By the sky which sends back

Wahiduddin Khan

By the heavens, ever-revolving

Shabbir Ahmed

Witness is the high atmosphere that keeps returning (its water, gases and other composition)

86:12

Saheeh International

And [by] the earth which splits,

Wahiduddin Khan

by the earth cracking open with new growth

Shabbir Ahmed

And witness is the earth which cracks open for springs and plants

86:13

Saheeh International

Indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a decisive statement,

Wahiduddin Khan

It is surely a decisive utterance

Shabbir Ahmed

Behold, this (Qur'an) is a Conclusive Word. (That can give you a new life)

86:14

Saheeh International

And it is not amusement.

Wahiduddin Khan

and is not to be taken lightly

Shabbir Ahmed

It is not an amusing idle talk

86:15

Saheeh International

Indeed, they are planning a plan,

Wahiduddin Khan

They are planning a scheme

Shabbir Ahmed

(Yet) Behold, they plot and scheme (to refute the Truth)

86:16

Saheeh International

But I am planning a plan.

Wahiduddin Khan

and so am I

Shabbir Ahmed

But My Law works its own Way

86:17

Saheeh International

So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile.

Wahiduddin Khan

so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while

Shabbir Ahmed

Therefore give the rejecters some time. Leave them alone for a while
